Heho,

downloaded the new Cold Case episode from CBS this sunday.
Looks like the video quality isnt the same as with german stations
(much more pixelig ;-) ... and audio seems to a bit out of sync.

(when watching the video after removing commercials with
avidemux on my dvd player).

Anyone any comments, ideas?

Hallo,
press stopp and play during the video plays, or use VirtualDub 1.7.8
http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualdub/files/

Video/Compression: DivX
[x] Full processing mode
[x] Smart Rendering

I used avidemux and saved a copy of the original OTR avi with
framerate of 25.

Made things worse - audio was completely out of sync using
the DVD player.

So, what now?

Hello!

I used avidemux and saved a copy of the original OTR avi with

You know, that the electrical Power Supply in the USA has 60 Changes/Second, while in Europe we use 50?
The Result of this difference is that US-TV uses 30, european TV 25 Frames per Second (interleaved) This is because in the early years of TV the Power Supply was used for Synchronization.

So US-Recordings have to use 30, European 25 Frames. I don't know, why you find 29.970 - maybee an Error of the Recording Unit. Storing with 25 is definitely wrong.

From wikipedia:

* 60i (actually 59.94, or 60 x 1000/1001 to be more precise; 60 interlaced fields = 29.97 frames) is the standard video field rate per second, whether from a broadcast signal, DVD, or home camcorder.

Still doesnt tell me what to do ;-(
